In the South of Krabi, Trang still avoïd the tourist fever of its neighbor. Beautiful beaches, small islands, waterfalls, mountains, beautiful landscapes and accomodations more affordable than nearby Krabi and Phuket, the province has good assets. This is one of the few destinations in the South of Thailand that has preserved its authenticity. The rubber plantations also make the fame of this part of Thailand. let's hope it will last. Trang town itself is not an enormous tourist attraction, it is mainly the starting point for the 46 islands in the area and the Hat Chao Mai National Park. Accommodations in Trang
To find a place to sleep in Trang, go to the train station. Most hotels and guest houses in Trang are located in and around Praram IV Road between the train station and the clock tower. Accommodation in the neighboring islands are naturally more expensive.

My recommandations
People often ask me what accommodations I recommend in Thailand, here are my recommandations in Trang.
Most of the time people staying in Trang are just in transit on their way to the islands. You can get to Trang by air, bus or train. The train trip is very long (more than 15 hours) so we recommend you to take a sleeper in a night train. But book your ticket in advance to be sure to get your sleeper. You can book online on this website.
How to go to Trang ?
Trang, a little south-east from Krabi, is accessible by train, bus or plane. Travelers who want to go to Krabi by train get of in Trang before finishing the trip by bus (bus Trang-Krabi and Krabi-Trang every hour). From Bangkok there are between one and two flights to Trang per day depending on the day of the week. By bus from Bangkok, it's a dozen hours travel. Departure from the Southern Bus Terminal Sai Tai Mai. The train travel from bangkok is more than 15 hours long but can be nice if you buy a sleeper tickets on a night train. You can book online on this website to be sure to get a sleeper.
To get around town, there are bus lines in Trang with real small buses. A white songthaew also drives from the station to the bus station for a single price of 12 baht. Otherwise, you will find some tuk-tuks to go around in Trang.
There is also a night market held every Friday, Saturday and Sunday next to the train station.
Festivals in Trang ?
Here is a list of the main festivals taking place every year in Trang. I mention their dates as soon as they are official on Thai Festivals page.
This temple perched on a small hill about thirty kilometers north fromTrang city of is really worth a visit! For the temple itself but also and especially for the view it offers at the top. At the summit, not just from the part with the chedi. It is a recommended place to admire the sunrise.
This small island is, of the 3 most famous islands in Trang province, namely Koh Mook, Koh Kradan and Koh Ngai, the one I prefer because, unlike the other 2, it has a real local life and is not just an island for tourists. It definitely changes the experience !
This island off the coast of Trang province is best known for its picture postcard beaches. Fine white sand, turquoise waters, you are in paradise on Koh Kradan which lives only on tourism and has no local life out of season.
Die kleine Insel Koh Ngaï hat einen ziemlich langen weißen Sandstrand mit türkisfarbenem Meer und einen etwas kleineren und geheimeren. Sie können hier problemlos schnorcheln.
The visit to this partly flooded cave is quite an adventure! You can take a boat with experienced boatmen to the cave, which you can visit partly on foot, and during the navigation you often have to lie on the boat, almost brushing against the ceiling. Sensations guaranteed!
This botanic garden about ten kilometers from Trang is best known for its Canopy Walkway, a set of bridges suspended through the trees which culminates at 18 meters and allows you to walk at the top of the canopy. The rest of the park has interesting vegetation.
Yon Yuk Floating Market starstarstar This small floating market is not really worth it for its floating market side but for its access to the river with an interesting swimming area for children. It's a good place to eat Thai food, relax and cool off while wading in the water.
Kantang Railway Station starstarstar This more than a century old wooden train station is one of the oldest and probably the most beautiful in Thailand. Still in use, it has not been renovated or modified, just maintained, since its opening in 1913 and became an historical monument.
Dragon Tree Sculpture Garden starstarstar This private park is a place that owes its reputation to its assemblies of tree branches forming sculptures of dragons. It is also a place that wants to make its visitors aware of the preservation of nature and the philosophy of sufficiency economy.
Pak Meng Beach starstarstar This beach, located 40 kilometers from downtown Trang , is the most popular in the area. A lot of families come here on weekends and public holidays. Its pier is also the starting point for excursions or transfers to Koh Ngai, Koh Kradan and Moh Mook islands.
Kantang Hot Spring Forest Park starstarstar This park located about thirty kilometers south of Trang city center has naturally hot mineral water with therapeutic virtues (it is particularly good for blood circulation). There are several pools designed to immerse your feet or your entire body.
Trang a tropical climate. Temperatures don't vary a lot throughout the year although the pre-monsoon months from February to April are a little hotter. The year is divided into a dry season, from January to March and a long wet season from April to December, with the strongest rains in September.
The best time to come to Trang is from December to March knowing that during the low season from May to the end of October, when it rains the most, tourism activity is very limited and most of the resorts on Trang islands are closed.
I want to go to Trang / Yak paï ti Tlang.
