Chiang Khan Walking Street
Chiang Khan Walking Street is located on Chai Khong Road which, with its wooden houses, is the most emblematic street of Chiang Khan city. At the end of the afternoon, it becomes pedestrianized to accommodate a large night market. Stretching over 1,200 meters, this pedestrian street is home to many food stalls, stalls selling crafts, souvenirs and clothing. Here and there, visitors also come across musicians and human statues which startle pedestrians when they suddenly move.

Located parallel to the majestic Mekong River, Chiang Khan's Walking Street is a living testimony to traditional Thai architecture. Both sides of this charming street are lined with wooden houses, most of which have been transformed into guest houses or souvenir shops. So, Chai Khong Road in Chiang Khan is the meeting point for tourists, and a few locals, in the morning, for the alms offerings to the monks, and in the evening, for tasting Thai Street Food and souvenir shopping.

Practical information about Walking Street

Chiang Khan Walking Street takes place every evening from 4 p.m or 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on a large part of Chai Khong Road. It is much busier and hosts many more stalls on weekends and public holidays when many Thais come to visit Chiang Khan.

How to get to Walking Street ?

As it is recommended to choose a hotel in Chiang Khan close to Chai Khong Road, or even in the street itself, and if possible, on the Mekong River side,, you can easily walk to Chiang Khan's Walking Street. Or get there by bike, if you are a little further away in more affordable accommodation. Most guesthouses and hotels in Chiang Khan provide bicycles to their guests.

Offered in Englishenglish guide
Discover 3 provinces of Isan, a region preserved from mass tourism as it is very little offered to foreign tourists. Between temples, natural wonders and moments of simple life with the locals, you will meet artisans and enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets over the Mekong River.
