In Chiang Khan, the main activity is taking part in the alms offerings to the monks at dawn on Chai Kong Road. The guesthouses in the street offer their customers baskets of offerings and install mats in the morning in front of their accommodations. It is a famous tradition here in which Thais from all over the country participate on weekends. Cruising on the Mekong River with Laos opposite, especially at sunset, is also very popular. You can also ride a bicycle a long the bike path, discover the Tai Dam community and its traditions, go to the top of the highest peak for sunrise, and just enjoy the sunrises and sunsets by the river.
