Accommodations in Lopburi
Hotels and guesthouses are not very numerous in Lopburi but sufficient for the few travelers who stop to sleep there. There are some very old but also very cheap accommodation, the presence of monkeys does not help to maintain them in good condition but there are also very good value for money accommodation. Addresses that we found most interesting are in the corner of Wat Mahathat and Phra Narai Ratchanivet.

How to go to Lopburi ?
To go to Lopburi you can choose the train or take one of the buses that leave from Mochit Bus Terminal in Bangkok every 20 minutes. Trains from Bangkok leave every hour and a half or so.
No taxi with taximeter in Lopburi. But there are some tuk-tuks and samlaws (bicyclecabs) for getting around the city. Otherwise, there is like a bus network but with songtaews (shared taxis). They have numbers and specific roads but there is no map so we can not tell exactly which one goes where. Anyway, once you're in the area of the railway station almost everything interesting is accessible by feet. To go to the bus terminal which is quite far from the city center you can catch any songthaew at the beginning of Narai Maharat Road just behind Sam Prakan Shrine and get off at the big place with Si Suriyothai Monument at its center. The bus terminal is right next door. It is also from this place that leave most minivans. Fare 10 THB.
