Bang Krachao
Bang Krachao is also called Bangkok's green lung. It is a preserved area with no high buildings and a bit of nature just outside the bustle of the city. It is very pleasant and relaxing to stroll on a bicycle on the small concrete paths going through the trees and bamboos. Bangkokians come here in numbers on weekends and rent bicycles, the best way to visit Bang Krachao. I also advise you to come here on Saturday or Sunday to enjoy the very friendly Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market. A good place to have lunch.

In Bang Krachao, you will not be completly lost in the nature, but if you go on the small cement elevated roads, it will be a big change comparing to bangkok city for sure ! But be careful, these small roads can quickly become a maze where you might have some difficultiehs to locate you.

There are at least 3 things to do during your visit in Bang Krachao: stroll in the nature on your bicycle on the cement small paths, go to Bang Nam Phueng Floating Market and relax in Sri Nakhorn Kuan Khan Park. You'll even have the opportunity to see a beautiful statue of Ganesha....

How to get to Bang Krachao, Bangkok's green lung ?

By public transport, there are several options to go to Bang Krachao with several piers offering to cross the Chao Phraya River to get there. The most known way to get to bangkok's Green Lung is to go to Klong Toey Pier located behind Wat Klong Toei by taxi or by MRT, Bangkok metro and stop at Klong Toei station and then hire a taxi to reach Klong Toey Pier Pier (60 THB). The boats are at the end of the street along Wat Klong Toey. The crossing costs 10 baht. As soon as you arrive on the other side, you will see a bike rental shop (80 THB a day) that will also give you a Bang Krachao map.

Another lesser known option but it became my favorite one because you are quickly in the heart of the small elevated roads crossing nature and houses, it is to go to Wat Bang Na Nok in Samut Parakan (which is located HERE) then take a boat to cross the river (5 THB), you'll arrive at Wat Bang temple Nam Phueng Nok where you have bicycle rental shops (50 THB per day) and just after 3 minutes, you are at the heart of what bang krachao is about and quickly arrive at the nice Tree House Café.
