January 17 is the day of commemoration of King Ramkhamhaeng since January 17, 1833, King Rama IV discovered a stone tablet telling the story of King Ramkhamhaeng the Great.Every year, the King Ramkhamhaeng Fair is held from January 17 to 19 at the Sukhothai Historical Park. Besides cultural performances, the event also simulates daily life in the ancient city, to portray the fabulous prosperity of Sukhothai in the past.
