Your Travel Guide to Thailand
All information & tips to prepare your trip in Thailand
To get around Krabi whether in town or from town to the airport, the Bus Terminal, Wat Tham Seua (Tiger Cave Temple) or Ao Nang Beach, you will have no difficulty . And no need to call a taxi, motorbike taxi or tuk-tuk. In Krabi, there are a few very convenient local bus lines and a bus that shuttles between the airport, bus terminal, town and Ao Nang.
The white songthaew (van with benches in the back) is probably the most convenient way to get around Krabi. It connects the bus terminal, Krabi town center and Ao Nang beach. For a trip between the city and Ao Nang, about 20 kilometers away, count 50 baht (60 baht after 6 p.m.). Although its main stop in town is on Maharaj Road near 7 Eleven, this bus also runs a lot around Chao Fah Pier.
The blue songthaew, on the other hand, takes you from downtown Krabi to the airport, passing through the Big C, ideal for those who want to do a few errands on the way. You can hail it on the road, but its main stop is on Uttarakit Road, near the River View Hotel, just past the Chao Fah Pier.
The red songthaew takes you to the temple
In addition to the blue songtheaw which stops in front of the entrance leading to the airport (but not inside the airport), there is a white bus which connects Krabi airport to Ao Nang beach, passing through the downtown krabi and the Chao Fa pier area. Although it is more expensive than the blue songthaew for the trip between the city and the airport, this bus is very convenient for those who want to get there quickly to Ao Nang Beach after landing in Krabi, or to catch a plane from Ao Nang. The price is 150 THB. Note that from 3 people, a local taxi will be cheaper to reach Ao Nang from the airport and vice versa.
In Krabi, there are only a few taximeters, instead, you’ll find cars with drivers offering fixed fees depending on the destiantion. For private transfers in Krabi, as well as to Koh Lanta, Khao Sok, Khao Lak, or Phuket, or for custom day tours, I recommend this driver in Krabi.
Compared to other tourist towns, there are few tuk-tuks in Krabi. They are much easier to find in Ao Nang, the most scenic area. In the city, they are mainly found on Maharaj Road towards the Vogue Shopping Center and are often found near the pak Up Hostel. You can also ask your hotel reception to call one for you.
As in all cities in Thailand, you will find motorbike taxis in Krabi. there are a few stations, notably at the hospital level.
In Krabi, it is also possible to order a vehicle with driver for a specific destination via the GRAB smartphone application which is the equivalent of UBER. The BOLT app now also offers this service in Krabi. It's more convenient than a taxi, especially in Krabi where those with a meter are rare. And this has the advantage of allowing you to know exactly the cost before ordering your vehicle.
In Krabi, longtail boats are generally taken from Ao Nang Beach or Chao Fah Pier, see the Mud Crab Monument in town. We use them to go to Railay (around 100 THB per person for a half hour journey on average) but we can also privatize them to do complete day tours like the Tour of the 4 Islands. There is a Longtail Boat Association kiosk at the top of the beach in front of the Phra Nang Inn Hotel.
We have been waiting for it for months, hoping it will happen on July 1, but it will finally be October 1, 2022, when Thailand will lift the last COVID restrictions to enter the country. From this date, it will no longer be necessary to show...
