Although it is a recent temple (there are still elements still under construction), Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkon Khiri is a temple that is worth visiting. The element that has made its popularity is its long Burma-style reclining Buddha outside, it is the first element that you see when arriving. Next to his feet, a naga staircase climbs to the Ubosot (ordination room). In the courtyard, a Burmese-style chedi and some Lanna style statues with many details and refined lines. Higher you will find other elements with many Buddhas images. This temple mixes Burmese and Lanna styles and is particularly photogenic. Who takes the time to dwell on the details, will find plenty of allusions to moments, beliefs and figures that are not always buddhist.

There is no admission fee to enter the temple.
How to get to Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkhon Khiri ?
Wat Phra That Suthon Mongkon Khiri is in Phrae province but only 2 kilometers from Denchai railway station while Phrae is 30 kilometers away. If there is no local bus going there, the temple is on the side of road to Chiang Mai so a lot of long distance buses pass by but I'm not sure it's convenient to use them to reach the temple. The best way is probably to go to Denchai Railway station and then hire a tuk-tuk to get there.
