Your Travel Guide to Thailand
All information & tips to prepare your trip in Thailand
The climb that takes about 2 hours to the final viewpoint is quite physical but when the weather is clear, the reward at the top is breathtaking (which will probably have already been a little cut by the climb). It is even a little easier now that there are stairs on the most arduous part.
At the top, the reward! You have a view of the bay and the plain below with its typical karst peaks. There is also a small stone tongue that has become the place to take THE photo that everyone takes when coming here (the one I put in the illustration). Well, it was because access is now often blocked. I had feedback that it was blocked then open, then blocked... But blocked access or not, it's worth going up there.
Allow 6 hours for this visit, between the road to reach the start of the 3.7 km climb to access the view, the ascent (2 hours), the time spent up there, the descent (1 hour) and the return to Krabi or Ao Nang about forty kilometers away.

This trail is very physical so avoid it if you are not in good condition and avoid it with very young children. Especially givent that there is no protective barrier and at the top we flirt with the void. An accident can happen fast. Take good shoes, a large part of the climb is on paths strewn with roots and stones. And bring a bottle of water. The rangers will ask you if you have one when you arrive and they won't let you go up without it (I imagine they sell some otherwise).
