Skywalk Nong Khai View
Located 80 kilometers west of Nong Khai, Wat Pha Tak Suea temple is perched on a mountain that offers a superb view over the Mekong River that marks the border with Laos. In 2016, a ''Sky Walk'', ie a U-shaped glass platform, has been installed to allow visitors to enjoy the panorama even better. Quite small, it allows only 20 people to stay at the same time and has, in a very short time, made the reputation of the place although visitors could already enjoy the beautiful view from the terrace just beside.

You know me, I am curious, I went down the small path that goes below the platform by following a Thai sign indicating the "monk's cave". If the cave is not impressive, you quickly find yourselves in a jungle scenery along large rocks symbolically supported by wooden sticks placed by the people. You also have the feeling of being in a secret place because if there are a lot of people above, here, I was alone.
Even if the view from this temple is one of the most beautiful you can find over the Mekong, getting here from Nong Khai only for the SkyWalk might be a lot of road but there are interesting waterfalls in the area and a few visits in the neighboring province of Udon Thani which are only a few tens of kilometers away. All together can make a nice day of visit.

Practical information about Sky Walk

No admission fee
The temple is open from 6 am to 6 pm but the Sky Walk only from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Too early to watch the sunset or too late for the morning mist in the cool season but as I said, even outside these hours, you can enjoy the view (but not from the Sky Walk).
There are many more people on weekends and holidays. So try to avoid those day or you may have to wait a long time before you can get on the Sky Walk because il only allows 20 people maximum at a time and everyone takes its time once on it to enjoy the view and to do selfies of course.

To go visit Sky Walk, you can also book one of the tours above.

How to get to Sky Walk ?

As far I know, there is no local transportation enabling you to get here easily.

Offered in Englishenglish guide
Discover 3 provinces of Isan, a region preserved from mass tourism as it is very little offered to foreign tourists. Between temples, natural wonders and moments of simple life with the locals, you will meet artisans and enjoy magnificent sunrises and sunsets over the Mekong River.
