Phu Kradueng is the most famous peak in Loei Province. Climbing it can only be done by wlaking and is quite arduous but you(ll be rewarded with great views especially at sunrise. Going up there, spending the night in a tent to get up before dawn and watch the spectacle of the sea of ??mist from where the sun emerges in the morning is very popular with young Thais during the winter. They are very numerous to do it especially on weekends. I joined them in December 2018. A great experience but you have to be in shape and love walking in the mountains !

Once at the top, on the plateau you will have access to several viewpoints, one for the sunrise, the most popular, the Phra Nok Aen Viewpoint, one for the sunset, the Pha Lomsak Viewpoint, but also waterfalls. There are wild elephants in the forest but you will have more chances to cross their poop, like me, than to see them.

There is a charge of 30 THB per night spent in the campsite and once you arrive up there you can rent a tent (200 THB), mattress (20 THB), pillows (10 THB) and sleeping bags (30 THB).
