If there is a small part of mangrove on the land with small raised cement roads (
see this page), it is much more pleasant, interesting and friendly to go kayaking inside the mangrove from the edge of the canal.
It's pretty easy to paddle there and really not tiring and although it is not that far from the road and the city, you will quickly find yourself in a natural setting which is very peaceful and quiet. On your kayak tour in the mangrove you will see violin crabs with a single clip, more classic crabs, amazing walking fishes, all kinds of birds, monitor lizards and there are also monkeys but they are more difficult to see. I did not see any.
Practical information about Mangroves (kayaking)
The restaurant
Krua Tangke rents 2 seater kayaks with all equipment (paddles and lifejackets) for 250 THB per hour. It is best to call them before on 089 288 9099 (mobile) to be sure they have kayaks available. I also recommend you to leave or at least make get adviced by someone who knows a little whre to go to tell you the best spots and not getting lost. I went there with Sylvain from
Leeloo Paradise Resort.
