Located in Ban Nawarat 15 kilometers from the center of Nan, Spa Samunphrai is a surprising visit that I recommend for its small individual saunas made from bamboo cages, sum gai, usually used for raising roosters. Lined with an insulating blanket, they cover the customer sitting on a stool and leave only his head to go through the opening provided at their summit while spread the steam and scents of herbs and barks of the preparation that simmers in a small cauldron placed at his feet. It's fun and relaxing!

Here, things are done seriously, they take your tension before allowing you to do your little sauna session of 30 minutes or 1 hour of your choice. You can also follow a massage. The place is recent, it opened in July 2018, I discovered a little by chance while going to see the craftsmen of Ban Bo Suak.

30 minutes of sum gai sauna costs 70 THB and 1 hour costs 120 THB.
1 hour of massage costs 150 THB.
The spa is open every day from 10am to 6pm. As there are only 5 places, it is advisable to contact them to book in advance. At least the day before, by phone at 0926476671 (get help after the reception of your hotel). Otherwise, try to come at 9:30, they will probably take you early as it was the case for me.

How to get to Chicken coop spa ?

There is no public transport to get here, you will have to come by your own or hire a tuk-tuk from the city. Take the opportunity of being in this area to visit Baan Bo Suak and its ancient pottery kilns, just before Baan Nawarat, and to see the weaving workers at Baan Sao Luang a little further.
