Visit Ban Na Kha Silk market (Udon Thani)

The Ban Na Kha market is located 16 kilometers from Udon Thani on the edge of the highway number 2. Called sometimes silk market, it is essentially composed of stores selling silk and coton clothes. The most famous are the 'Mi-Khit' style clothes whose geometric patterns are typical of Isan (northeastern region of Thailand). You can stroll from boutique to boutique and find both very traditional outfits and more modern clothes. And by going in the perpendicular streets, you will discover tailors workshops.

The production of the fabrics used here is done 9 kilometers away in the small village of Ban Na Kham Luang where almost every house has its loom. The village is not touristy at all, nobody speaks English there, but if you are curious, you can go. In general, with an exchange of smiles, you will easily be invited to watch the weaving work. They sell their fabric 40 baht per meter to Ban Na Kha tailors and weave 4 to 6 meters a day depending on their dexterity.
