Completely shunned by foreign tourists and not that much visited by Thai tourists, Phichit province is located in the north of the central region of Thailand, just below Phitsanulok province. Its most famous monument is the Wat Tha Luang temple located on the banks of the river. It is the central point of all Phichit festivals. Bueng Si Faï Park is, for me, the true jewel of the city. It is very pleasant to walk there at the end of the day when the temperature drops and the sun sets over the lake. We went there very often when I lived in Phihit.
Visitors can also explore the historical remains of the region including those of Muang Boran, the ancient city whose ruins date from the Sukhothai period. But this remains much less interesting than the UNESCO-listed monuments of Sukhothai province
or Kampheng Phet province. Phichit is also famous for its longboat races in the fall, when river water levels are at their highest.Phichit is accessible by train but cannot really match the neighboring provinces in terms of tourist attraction. It is one of the smallest provinces in Thailand.
