This 10 days festival starts with a ceremony to honor the King U-Thong, who founded Ayutthaya as the capital of Siam in 1351 and a religious ceremony to honor the relics of the Buddha.
But what the highlight of this fair is the light and sound show at Wat Mahathat (tickets from 200 to 500 baht - booking by calling 03 533 6563. There is also an exhibition about the ancient Ayutthaya and a with free guided tram tour by students of Rajabhat Ayutthaya University. A traditional market is also organized as well as traditional dance performances and many other animations.
