Your Travel Guide to Thailand
All information & tips to prepare your trip in Thailand
In low season (mid-May to October), there are only speedboats from Pakbara Pier in Satun province to go to Ko Lipe. The rest of the year there are speedboats from Phuket, Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Koh Ngai, Koh Kradan and Koh Mook islands in Trang province as well as from Langkawi island in Malaysia. The most poûlaor route to Koh Lipe from Bangkok is via Hat Yai (plane or train). There are very regular buses between Hat Yai and Pakbara Pier. Going through Trang (plane or night train) is also an option with daily van + speedboat formulas to Lipe island from there.
WARNING: many buses can only be booked 30 days before depature tops. They won't be displayed in the results on our transportation booking partner's website if not bookable yet.
To get to Bangkok, the most common and easiest route is the one that combines a boat to the Pakbara Pier and then a bus to Hat Yai airport or railway station to catch a flight or a train to Bangkok. It is also possible to choose Trang whhere there is also an airport and train station but the advantage of going to Hat Yai is that there is a very regular bus service going there from the Pakbara Pier.
