Quick historical background
Mahachai Railway Station is located in Samut Sakhon province. It was opened on 29 December 1904 during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, as part of the Pak Khlong San–Mahachai Railway operated by Tachin Railway Ltd. It is the terminus of the
Mahachai Line and has historically played a vital role in transporting goods and workers between Bangkok and the coastal region of Samut Sakhon. Tourists usually use it to reach
the Mae Klong Railway Market by combining it with the
Mae Klong Line by crossing the river by ferry before taking a second train to Ban Laem Station.
