Mahachai Railway Station is located in Samut Sakhon province. It was opened on 29 December 1904 during the reign of King Chulalongkorn, as part of the Pak Khlong San–Mahachai Railway operated by Tachin Railway Ltd. It is the terminus of the Mahachai Line and has historically played a vital role in transporting goods and workers between Bangkok and the coastal region of Samut Sakhon. Tourists usually use it to reach the Mae Klong Railway Market by combining it with the Mae Klong Line by crossing the river by ferry before taking a second train to Ban Laem Station.

Tickets for trains departing from Mahachai station cannot be purchased in advance, they must be purchased at the ticket offices in the station, which usually only open about twenty minutes before the train departs. There are vending machines, but you need a Thai ID card to use them. In addition to the seafood market just outside, there is a market that mainly sells clothes that is right next to Mahachai station, in the middle of which are the toilets.

How to get to Mahachai Railway Station?

Mahachai Station is located in Samut Sakhon province, about 40 km southwest of Bangkok. The most direct way to get there from Bangkok is to take the train from Wongwian Yai Station. The journey takes about an hour and passes through residential areas and rice fields, offering an authentic glimpse into local life. Upon arrival in Mahachai, the station is located in the heart of the city, near the famous seafood market. For those who prefer the bus, there are regular services from Bangkok's Southern Bus Terminal (Sai ​​Tai Mai) and take about an hour to reach Mahachai.
