In Thailand, there are beautiful beaches and tropical islands but also extraordinary monuments mostly temples or ruins of temples dating from the heyday of the Kingdom of Siam. Here is a very subjective selection of the 10 most beautiful monuments in Thailand.
1. Wat Pho, in Bangkok, known for its huge reclining Buddha is a temple where it is very pleasant to stroll. |

2. Wat Phra Kaew, in Bangkok, is the most famous and important temple in the country. Its small emerald Buddha is highly revered in Thailand. |

3. Wat Arun in Bangkok, opposite Wat Pho, on the other bank of the river, has a very specific architecture. It is currently under renovation (until March 2016 at least). |

4. Wat Si Chum, in Sukhothai, is with its large smiling stone Buddha , my favorite place in Sukhothai Historical Park. |

5. Wat Yai Chai Mongkhon, in Ayutthaya, is with its chedi and beautiful stone Buddhas, a must see in the city. |

6. Phra Nakhon Cave in Sam Roi Yod national park (near Pranburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan) is incredibly photogenic. |
