3 new skytrain lines in project in Bangkok
The Department of Land Transport (DLT) is about to propose construction plans for 3 new lines of Skytrain in Bangkok this month. This is wat indicated Soitip Traisut, the secretary general of DLT.
The 3 new lines will be: Orange Line (Taling Chan – Min Buri), the yellow line (Ladprao – Samrong) and the pink line (Khae Rai – Min Buri) and designation of the median price for their construction will be held by the end of this year.
The opening of the purple line (Bang Yai – Bang Sue) is expected to take place at the beginning of next year.
With these new BTS lines and the one already under construction the metro network in Bangkok in 2029 will grow considerably and look like the following map.
With this new network, we will be ale go to Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho by taking the the orange line and stop at Sanam Luang or go to Taling Chan Floating Market or Chinatown by skytrain. This will be a new competition for taxis and the Chao Phraya Express baots but this is good news for people wanting to visit Bangkok and avoid trafic jams.
