How to wish a happy new year in Thai ?
Well the year is almost over and in a few hours 2015 will come. For those who are in Thailand for the year-end holidays and who would like to know how to wish a happy new year in Thai language, here are a few key sentences.
We bagin with two ways to say “Happy New Year!” then a few other thai sentences that will be useful today and tomorrow:
- Sawasdee pee maï which means Happy New Year
- Suk san wan pee maï which also means Happy New Year (literally happy day of the new year)
- For the countdown : 5,4,3,2,1 is haa (5), sii (4), sam (3), song (2) nueng (1)
So it will be: haa, sii, sam, song, neung… Sawasdee pee maï ! - Kho haï mee kwam suk to wish a lot of happiness
To punctuate with kha if you are a woman and khrap if you are a man.
