Ayutthaya World Heritage and Red Cross Fair
Every year in December, Ayutthaya celebrates its status of UNESCO World Heritage Site with a big festival in partnership with the Red Cross : Ayutthaya World Heritage and Red Cross Fair.
This event takes place over a week and celebrates the history and prestige of Ayutthaya. On the program, you can find: sound and light show reproducing the history of Ayutthaya and its glorious past, live concerts, beauty pageants, cultural activities, sale of local and OTOP products, stalls with Thai food and a religious ceremony called Thaksinanupathan, among other things ….
In short, this festival in Thailand brings animation in the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam.
This year, the Ayutthaya World Heritage and Red Cross Fair will be held from 13 to 19 December 2014.
Note that you have the choice between taking a room in Ayutthaya or come from Bangkok by bus or train to spend the day in Ayutthaya. Personally, I recommend you to sleep in Ayutthaya, it’s cheaper and you can enjoy the evening entertainment.
