Thailand Visa Exempt Extensions will be longer

Since the military coup in Thailand, the junta has clearly demonstrated its commitment to regulate visas, fighting against the visa-runs on one hand and against overstays more than 90 days of other in the other hand. This could scare “regular” tourists  but they are not targeted by these measures. They are welcome in Thailand and will soon get visa renewal for a longer period.

Bangkok Immigration Services have indicated that from August 29, an extension of 30 days will be granted to tourists with a 30 days visa exemption on arrival or with a tourist visa. This extension will be obtained like before at any immigration office for an unchanged rate of 1,900 baht.  You will need to provide proof of your tourist status (return ticket, hotel reservations or visa for another country). Before the extension for a visa exemtpion was 7 days only.
