First Silent Film Festival in Thailand in August
Old movies lovers, will probably enjoy the first silent film festival in Thailand that will take place from 7 to 13 August 2014, at Lido and Scala theaters in Bangkok.
In total, seven silent films will be screened during this exceptional event in Bangkok, including three Alfred Hitchcock silent films : “The Pleasure Garden”, “The Ring” and his masterpiece “The Lodger ” an expressionist thriller about Jack the Ripper. To recreate the atmosphere of the old movie theaters, each silent film will be accompanied by a pianist.
The projections of the first six days of the festival will be held at the Lido Cinema and the grand finale with the screening of “The Lodger” will take place at the Scala. Tickets for the Lido are 100 baht and 500 baht for Scala. There is a 1,000 baht combo ticket which includes six tickets for the Lido and one ticket for the Scala and a free T-shirt of the festival (worth 250 Baht). Tickets can be purchased at the counters of the two theaters but the combo ticket can only be purchased at the Scala. Tickets are on sale from 1st August 2014.
