Free khon performances in Bangkok
Two luxury shopping malls in Bangkok will be holding a spectacular exhibition to boast the art of khon masked dance.
“The Royal Khon Performance: Wisdom of The Kingdom” exhibition will run at Central Chidlom and Central Embassy from July 29-Aug 17.
“The Royal Khon Performance: Wisdom of The Kingdom” will give all Thai and foreign visitors a chance to appreciate this exemplary Thai art form which combines indigenous skills and knowledge.
The exhibition is held to celebrate HM the Queen’s 82nd birthday anniversary and pay tribute to her support in preserving and promoting this art. It will be running at the Event Hall, third floor of Central Chidlom and also on the ground floor of Central Embassy from July 29-Aug 17 from 10am to 10pm.
Viewers will get to find out the history of khon as well as the highly acclaimed staging of royally-granted performances during the past eight years.
On show will be selected photographs of the khon performances, exquisite garments, accessories and headdresses. There are also demonstrations on how to wear khon costumes and how to make props and scenes.
