When Fox News insults Thailand…
In her “Off the record” minute on Fox News, Greta Van Susteren placed a very strong attack against Thailand designated as the “lamest” country of the day and also took the occasion to treat all its inhabitants “cruel” “jerks” .
Why so much hate ? Nothing can justify such a statement ! The reason of the U.S. columnist’s tirade is the fact that Thai authorities took more than a week to report they had detected Malaysia Airlines MH370 a few minutes after its communication systems went down. And it is true that the excuse of the Thai army which can be sum up like this: “we didn’t tell because nobody asked” is ridiculous but Greta Van Susteren went too far. Insulting an entire population because of the bankruptcy of its leaders and calling more than 66 millions people “jerks” leaving in “the lamest country of the day”.
But in this heinous speech, the most shocking part is its epilogue gong back to 2004 when a devastating tsunami hit southern Thailand. There was a huge solidarity movement. What bothers me in Greta Van Susteren’s remarks is that they seem to imply that it would have been better to help a country that does not deserve it. But does she deserve to have a forum on television if it is to use it like that ?
