Private vehicles banned on Doi Suthep for New Year’s Eve

Private buses, cars and vans will be banned on the mountain road to Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai between December 28 and January 2 to “relieve congestion on the seven dangerous days of the New year’s period”, while tens thousands tourists coming to visit the temple are expected.

Tourists who want to visit the famous temple Wat Phra That Doi Suthep and two other tourist attractions on the Doi Suthep mount, Bhubing Palace and Doi Pui Hmong Hilltribe Village will be asked to park their vehicles at Chiang Mai International Convention and Exhibition Centre and use public transportation like the red songtheaws to climb the mountain. Rates will exceptionally be lower for the occasion. Their number will be also increased.
