Schedule of Songkran Festival 2019 in Koh Samui
This year, Koh Samui Island in the Gulf of Thailand is hosting a big 3-day, 3-night Songkran festival marking the Thai New Year. It will be held on the iconic Chaweng Beach Road. Here is the program.
Schedule of Songkran 2019 in Samui
The Samui Water Color Songkran Festival will be held from April 12 to 14 on Chaweng Beach Road and will combine Songkran’s cultural and traditional events including a parade, morning alms offerings to monks and prayers and live DJ sets from noon to midnight.
As you can see on the program above, there are several venues for this festival, around the Central Festival for the April 13 parades and the opening ceremony, Phru Chaweng for the morning alms offerings to the monks and prayers of the 13th in the morning, the Central Festival car park and the Solo bar that will be offering DJ sets every day from noon to midnight.
In short, it ill probably the most lively Songkran in Koh Samui for a long time !
Of course, the Buddhist temples on Koh Samui will also be se many local people coming for offerings, merits and pouring scented water on Buddha images. I can not tell you more because, I have never been in Koh Samui for Songkran but no doubt that the staff of your hotels or guesthouses can inform you.
Alternatively, try going to Wat Khunaram, Wat Samret or Khao Hua Jook Pagoda overlooking Chaweng.
