Nok Air will cancel 60 flights a day until the end of the month

Nok Air is with Thai Air Asia, Thai Smile and Thai Lion Air one of the low-cost carriers you can use to travel in Thailand by air and to fly to nearby destinations such as Burma (Myanmar). Personally, this is the company I used the most for its many promotions and on board service but i the present moment it is better to choose other airlines because of the crisis Nok Air is facing is much deeper than expected.

The cancellation of 60 flights per day for the rest of the month is due to a shortage of pilots

Everythiing began on 14th February, the Thai international aviation authorities expressed worries about thai carriers for several months. Nok Air has implemented new procedures to reach the level of standards of the European Agency for Aviation Safety. Some pilots put to the wall decided to strike without warning on  Feb. 14, causing the cancellation of 9 flights and leaving hundreds of passengers stranded. In response the company dismissed or blamed the pilots. Since then, other pilots have gone on strike and others have resigned. And now, the airline lacks personnel to conduct its flights and is forced to cancellations before it manage to hire new pilots.

What is the impact on  the passengers ?

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, passengers should not be too affected by the new cancellations of flights because many had not reservation yet and passengers who were positioned on the canceled flights will be offered to get on other Nok Air flights or transferred to other airlines.

If you booked a Nok Air flight this month, watch out your mailbox in order to be sure to see any cancellation notices. You can also call Nok Air Clients Service (+66) 2-900-9955 or the hotline of the company (only from Thailand)  1318.
