6 good reasons to make a trip in Thailand in 2016
If you have never been to Thailand, why not go in 2016 ? Here are some reasons that will probably convince you to make a trip to Thailand this year. And for those who already know the country, I’m sure you’re far from having seen everything !
Thailand paradise islands
In general, traveler are primarly interested in Thailand for the amazing islands with their sandy beaches with coconut palm trees and warm turquoise clear waters. They dream of the very (too?) popular Koh Phi Phi, or Koh Lanta a little wilder, Koh Tao, designated as best island in Asia by TripAdvisor members for several years or some more confidential and often even more charming islands. There is a wide choice of paradise islands in Thailand.
The rich culture and history of Thailand
If the country is the ideal place to relax at the beach or for water sports or diving in exceptional sites, Thailand also offers an incredible historical heritage with several sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage. The most impressive ones are Sukhothai Historical Park and Ayutthaya. But you also have hundreds of Buddhist temples with beautiful Buddha statues throughout the country. Buddhism is the dominant religion in Thailand.
Tasty Thai food
Thai cuisine is one of the tastiest in the world! It has the art of combining multiple flavors to create amazing tastes. The only small problem for Westerners, is that the food is sometimes too spicy but you can ask for less chili in your dish. And Thailand is the country of Street Food. Street food is very present, very delicious and very cheap like in many Asian countries. In large cities, you can eat at any time day and night. And if sometimes you can be a little afraid to sit at the table of a street restaurant or a night market in Thailand, do not hesitate. I do it all the time and was never ill. And atmosphere of a street resturant is so nice. I particularly recommend you to eat at night markets in Thailand.
Everything is cheap in Thailand
Although prices have increased and the relative weakness of euro in recent years, prices are low in Thailand. You can really make a nice trip for a very low daily budget. This is one of the least expensive destinations in the world. Thailand is famous for its very high quality/price ratio. Backpackers love Thailand because you can sleep for less than 10 € a night, eat for less than one euro and travel by train in Thailand for long distances in 3rd class for very very cheap. And the fact that Thailand is not expensive, also enables you to organize dream holidays in luxury resorts for the price of a stay in a 2 stars accommodation in a western country. In a trip to Thailand, it is the airfare that weighs most in the budget and since the competition between airlines who often offer promotions (that we share on our Facebook page) is harsh, you can find flight tickets to Thailand at a very good price.
Thailand National Parks
Thailand has been blessed by nature, apart from its coastline and paradise islands, the country has many national parks with lush vegetation, wild animals like elephants, waterfalls and lakes. My favorite park is probably Khao Sok in the province of Surat Thani but I have not yet visited all thai national parks. They are so numerous !. The nature lovers will find their happiness in Thailand! With treks organized in the north of the country with the opportunity to meet the hill tribes (choose your agency carefully because unfortunately often these excursions are very artificial and sometimes exploite minorities). Most national parks in Thailand offer to camp there and some also have bungalows.
The welcoming Thai people
Thailand loves tourists. A large part of the population makes a living from tourism. Travelers are very welcomed and apart in large tourist destinations, usually without any second thought. Thais are just happy and proud that we love their country and we come to enjoy and discover Thailand. Thai people are known for their smile, Thailand is also known as the “Land of Smiles”. Even if that smile is a little more complex than it seems…
I could go on for hours giving you good reasons a to come or come back to Thailand. Many people, including myself, have also learned a lot from the Thai way of life, learned to enjoy the present, to enjoy what we have and not always want more, understand that this is not material belongings that makes us happy and learn to be patient, the sense of time in Thailand is not the same as in Western countries !
