How to wish a “merry Christmas” in Thai ?
The day after tomorrow is December 25 and I will learn nothing by saying that it is… Christmas. And even if it is not so much celebrated in Thailand, although due to major shopping malls, Christmas spirit is more and more present in the country, you’re probably wondering: “How do we wish Merry Christmas in Thai ? “
I’m create a little suspense before answering (even if the answer is on the picture above) because I can not resist ti put first a little Christmas song in Thai, illustrated with pictures of Christmas preparations in Chanthaburi. And the answer might be hidden in the videeo 😉
In fact, it’s easy to say Christmas in Thai. ! Since Christmas did not exist in Thai culture, as often, the English word is used to call the event. You just have to add the word “day” which is wan in Thai in front of it.
Remains to add the phrase that is used before all holidays to wish them to be good: “suk san”.
And so to say “Merry Christmas” in Thai, you can say suk san wan Christmas.
In Thai language, it is written: สุขสันต์วันคริสต์มาส
So “suk san wan Christmas” to you and your families !
Merry Christmas and thank you for your supporting this blog !
