A meteorite hit Thailand
A huge fireball that according to the latest information seems to be a meteorite fell on Thailand this morning and was seen by many people in the country.
The huge fireball fell vertically on the ground in front of thousands of people going to work in their cars in Bangkok or walking in the streets at 08:45 am local time this morning. Many videos and pictures of the fireball circulate on social networks since then.
The fireball and its long white tail looked exactly like what we see in disaster movies. Since no plane crash has been reported in the skies of Thailand, it was probably a meteorite.
Here is a video filmed by a car camera (see 0:47)
If the fireball was spotted in Bangkok, it seems it hit earth far from Bangkok because there was no noise heard at the time of impact with the ground. For cons, inhabitants of Kanchanaburi province, about 200 kilometers from Bangkok, also reported having seen and heard a thunderous explosion then.
A rescue team was sent to locate the scene of the explosion.
Aeronautical Radio Of Thailand said there was no aircraft accident and told that this could be a small meteorite. This was confirmed a little later by M. Posayachinda Sarun, deputy director of the National Astronomical Research Institute.
For now, we have no information on the precise location where the meteorite (or whatever it was) hit the earth . We hope nobody was hurt. We will keep you as soon as we know more …
