Bangkok, the city that never sleeps

Besides Big Mango, City of Angels (partial translation of its name), Bangkok is also known as the city that never sleeps and it is true, the Thai capital is in some places almost as busy or even more during the night than during the day.

In Bangkok you can find a 7 Eleven open at every time day and night. At night you will find traffic jams too, street merchants, roaring tuk-tuks … And even if it is true that between 3am and 6am, it’s quieter, Bangkok never sleeps !

The sun sets early in Bangkok (6pm to 7pm depending on time of year). After dark, come new players: the street restaurants, merchants in the evening markets, night markets, bars fill up with customers, massages chairs settle in the street like in Banglamphu, pretty young girls who wait for the bus but never take the bus and the some of them are not really girls arrive on the streets of some areas, Volkswagen minivans transformed into lounge bar park and set up their tables in the street…

There is always animation in the Thai capital. It’s just not the same people who make the animation during the day and during the night. Bangkok has two faces, one for the day and another one at night which is a little more vibrant.

If the city is tumultuous, noisy, always in turmoil, there are little quieter areas, where you almost feel like in a small village while still being in Bangkok.

Bangkok permanent agitation can be confusing or even tiring for who arrives in Bangkok for the first time. Some hate Bangkok, others love it, but the City of Angels can not be ignored…
