Building a bridge over Kwai River in Thailand… or not

When we travel by ourselves, sometimes we do not arrive where we expected and sometimes we have to improvise solutions to avoid an obstacle or to step over it like here. That’s what the team of Top Gear USA who conducted a tour in Burma last year had to do. With a little bit of excess as usual: they built a bridge in Thailand.

At the end of their trip in Myanmar (yes, we should not say Burma any more), Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond arrived in Thailand facing the River Kwai  famous for its bridge. Except where they arrive, there was no bridge. The bridge is in Kanchanaburi.

No problem, they decided to build one. At first it was a bit chaotic, but they get more and more help and resources and succeed in realizing their building over the River Kwai… River Kwai, really ?

Proud of their work, they look at the map and realize that they did not built a bridge over the River Kwai. They built a bridge over the river… kok.

Sure it’s less class to say “we built a bridge over the river cock” !
