Free entry at Ancient City near Bangkok during Songkran
Entry fee to Ancient City, the open-air museum of Samut Prakan, a few dozen kilometers from Bangkok, will be free during Songkran Festival. Free for Thais but also for foreign visitors. It is the opportunity to take a tour to see replicas of major monuments of Thailand and some landmarks of the neighboring countries in one place.
Ancient City, also known as Muang Boran in Thai or Ancient Siam is a big park housing several replicas of many great monuments of the country and from other South East Asia countries. An admirable job taht can be a good introduction to a trip to Thailand. It’s like a 3D catalog to choose what you’ll see next during your stay.
Obviously, I would advise you to go see the original monuments but a walk in the park is nice. To move inside the open air museum, it is recommended to rent a bicycle or a golf car available at the entrance.
Like last year, access to the park will be free for all during Songkran, the Thai New Year. So from 11 to 15 April inclusive, you can visit Ancient City for free (only the entry ticket will be free, renting bikes or golf carts will remain paying).
The full fare for an adult is 700 baht, so these free days are good news.
