Prayer at Wat Si Chum in Sukhothai

Some days ago I was in Sukhothai to attend the Loi Krathong & Candle Festival taking place in Sukhothai Historical Park and I could not resist to go pay a visit to Wat Si Chum and its huge stone Buddha . And I got a good surprise:  a few minutes after my arrival, as if they were expecting me to start monks took place at the foot of the statue for a collective prayer.

After parking my bike and paying the 100 baht entrance fee, I quickly noticed the monks outside the temple. “They tourist like me ” I thought but they were not. After a few moment , they entered the into the  temple with the largest stone sitting Buddha in Thailand and sat at the foot of the statue in front of an handful of people. They started their prayer and when they were finished they invited the audience to pour water into holes in the ground and then took of after accepting some offerings . A special moment that I wanted to share with you…
