One Hua Hin floating markets partly burned
In Hua Hin, there are two floating markets only 2 miles away from each other. The more popular one, the Sam Pan Nam Floating Market, burned for more than an hour on Saturday night. If you planned comme to visit it, you will have to wait a bit and probably will chooose to go to the another floating market in Hua Hin, Hua Hin Floating Market .
Ten wooden shops selling souvenirs, food and drinks were all burned. Since the purpose of this market was trying to recreate the atmosphère of a traditional Thai market with wooden stalls and structures, the fire spread very quickly. It took over an hour to firefighters to put off the blaze. It was reported that smoke was seen around 8:30 pm, when the market was already closed – it usually closes at 7:30pm and visitors and vendors had all left the place at 8 pm. Only material damage is reported.
One souvenir shop sold lighters and gas lighter guns, which has accelerated the spread of the fire. We do not know yet how long it will take to repare the part of the market that was burned.
