All ATM withdrawls to be free during Songkran in Thailand
This is good news, for the 5-days celebration of Songkran 2016, there will be no withdrawal fee at all ATM in Thailand. So you will be able to withdraw money without paying the usual fees that are around 200 baht (5 euros) per withdrawal whatever the amount of the withdrawal is.
It was announced that the use of ATM cash machines, will be free during Songkran as a courtesy to Thai tourists so they can make the most of their Songkran holidays. A measure that foreigners will also obviously welcome !
The measure will apply to all member of The Thai Bankers’ Association. This means that all major banks in Thailand will not charge withdrawal fees for 5 days : Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn, SCB, Krungsri and others …
The free service will cover all withdrawals and deposits on both ATM and CDM machines in Thailand. Although for travelers, it is mostly the free of charge withdrawals that are interesting !
Nevertheless if you will not have to pay ATM fees these days, costs added by your bank for withdrawals abroad will still be applied (see more information about money in Thailand).
The period during which you will be able to withdraw cash free of charge at ATMs in Thailand will beginon April 13, 2016 at midnight and will end on April 17 at 11 pm.
Note that if you plan to visit Thailand during Songkran, it is better to book your hotel rooms as soon as possible in the most popular destinations : Chiang Mai, Sangkhlaburi, Pattaya, Phuket, Koh Samui, Koh Larn, Hua Hin , Prachuap Khiri Khan, Amphawa ….
