Some Buddhist maxims that can inspire you for 2016
When a new year begins, we are looking for good resolutions to try to be better or live happier. To inspire you in your quest for good resolutions 2016, I made you a small collection of Buddhist maxims that i found in different temples in Thailand.
Those who have already been in Thailand have probably noticed in some temples these small tablets with a green background in general, with Buddhist maxims written in white. In Thai but also sometimes in English. You can find some of them at Wat Phra Singh in Chiang Mai or at Wat U-Mong, in Chiang Mai again (but Wat u-mon outisde the city center).
Here are some buddhists maxims I have chosen and i thiing will perhaps inspire you for a good start in 2016.
“Today is better than two tomorrows”
Another way to express the importance of living in the present and enjoying the present time. That we usually know with the Latin maxim “carpe diem”.
“Anxiety shortens life”
So does stress ! This maxim is connected to the previous one. We are a lot less stressed when we live in the present time…
“If there is nothing that you like, you must like what you have”
We often tend to always want more and more and forget to enjoy what we already have.
“When money speaks, truth is silent”
Money and greed corrupt everything.
“Failure teaches a man how to succeed”
We learn from our failures and mistakes than from our successes and achievements.
“Without a beginning , there is nothing to worry about the end”
A maxim which I love and which I still think I’m afraid to get into a project.
I wish you a great year full of happiness and serenity !
Enjoy what you have and enjoy the people around you.
