Talad Rod Fai, the Train night markets in Bangkok
It became in short time the most popular night market in Bangkok. Making almost people like me forget Suan Lum Night Bazaar, the big night market near Lumphini park that disappeared a few years ago. Talad Rod Fai revives the popular side of Thai night markets. And it is such a success that there are now two Rod Fai Markets in Bangkok.
I visited Talad Rod Fai Ratchada but the other one seems even more interesting. I will surely go to check it out too one day.
Talad Rod Fai (it literally means “train market)” Ratchada is located behind the Esplanade mall but kept the name of Talad Rod Fai although there is no old railway line here like there is near the first Talad Rod Fai.
At Ratchada Train Market, there are many things including food and drinks stalls like in any night market Thailand . You can chill in some nice bars in the background but Talad Rod Fai is lainly known as a vintage market with many retro items and clothing. ANd some stalls are actually Volkswagen minivans transformed into little shops.
The Ratchada market is open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5 pm to 1 am.
How to get to Ratchada Rod Fai Market?
The simplest way to come is to take the MRT (Bangkok subway) to the “Thailand Cultural Center” station and then take the exit 3. Signs indicate “Night market” but you can just follow the people, they will lead you to the market. Or ask them: “Talad Rod Fai?”
The otherTalad Rod Fai night market is located behind Seacon Square. More typical, it is less easily accessible by public transport. But buses 133, 145, 206 and 207 go there. I’ll try to go to really compare.
