Thailand and Malaysia to host Olympic Games 2024 ?
Thailand and Malaysia are under discussion to present a possible joint bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics Games.

This is the Thai minister of Sports, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, who announced it, explains the Bangkok Post. It was during a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart Khairy Jamaluddin in the United States last month that the two sides have imagined to join their forces to host the 2024 Olympic Games and even the World Cup.
The minister also said that South Asian countries, if they worked together, could host numerous international sport events. So other associations like thois may be put in place in the future.
Malaysia and Thailand think that sport can help boosting tourism in the region and generate additional revenue for this very important industry for both nations and for entire ASEAN.
There currently is no formal application of the two countries to host the games. This project is still in thinking phase but probably advanced thinking. Advanced enough for this to be made public. It remains to set up the project and its budget. We will keep you informed.
Thailand tries to host major international competitions for several years. A project to host a Formula 1 Grand Prix in the streets of Bangkok was also imagined before being abandoned. Then rumors spoke of a race in Pattaya or Phuket but today only the city of Buriram has a circuit capable of hosting such a race.
In parallel, the minister indicated that 70 to 80 million baht will be allocated to support the Thai male football team to win its place for Rio de Janeiro Olympics in 2016.
