Decisive battle for protesters tomorrow in Bangkok ?

Since the end of last week, the contested Thai government decided to send the police to retake the sites occupied by demonstrators calling for its resignation for months. It is in this context that Suthep Thaugsuban, leader of the protest, called his troops to deliver a “decisive battle” tomorrow.

The People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) Secretary General called on people to come to Bangkok for a mass rally tomorrow to oust Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her government.

Suthep has not detailed his “battle” plan but he would lead his followers from Pathumwan to Government House and try to keep blocking it while another group led by former Democratic Thaworn Senneam will gather at the Ministry of Interior to prevent any attempt by police to retake the site.  We advice you to avoid Government House and Ministry of Interior areas  in Bangkok tomorrow .

February 19 is also the day when many farmers, dissatisfied with the government rice payment delays  and when the civil court will make its decision on the legitimacy of the state of emergency decree imposed in Bangkok by the government.

Will it be the last battle of the PDRC ? It seems unlikely…
