Underwater wedding in Thailand

For almost 20 years the city of Trang offers to couples from Thailand and from around the world to ùmarry in flippers, diving masks and bottles underwater. This Annual Underwater Wedding Festival is held each year for Valentine’s Day.

Launched in 1996, this deepwater marriage attracts more and more lovers each year. Apart from the registration procedure that takes place underwater, the ceremony also introduces a traditional Thai style wedding to the participants. The ceremony starts with a Khan Mak procession, a colorful and lively parade in which the groom makes his way to ask the bride’s parents for their daughter’s hand, accompanied by folk dances and songs. A religious and blessing ceremony also take place, at which the bride and the groom have to wear traditional Thai costumes. Then there is a procession of brides and grooms through the streets of the city to the traditional Thai wedding ceremony .

Trang Underwater Wedding Annual Festival was recorded by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest submarine wedding ceremony in the world.

Important: For the underwater recording procedure grooms are required to be certified divers if they are not it will take place on land .
